Kal Kennedy

Death Doula, Owner of Blackthorn & Holly

Kal Kennedy received her education through the Going with Grace End-of-Life Doula training program. Kal is also a member of both the National End-of-Life Doula Alliance (NEDA), and the National Home Funeral Alliance (NHFA), groups through which she earned proficiency recognition within her field.

Kal will be the first to say that, rather than choosing this path, the path chose her. She believes that the work of a Death Doula is truly a calling for those who serve in this capacity. To supplement her skills, Kal is also a trained Level II Okuden practitioner of Usui/Holy Fire III Reiki. To better meet the needs of her community, Kal has created a Final Rite that can be helpful for those looking for a nature-centric way to fulfill this need, rather than going without or turning to religious leaders of faiths that are not compatible with everyone.

Kal resides in Lansing, Michigan, and enjoys life on a backpacking trail, in the audience of local theater productions, or snuggling with her two cats and her ball python.
